About Me
Why do you pay excessively for an oil painting? Because every stroke on a canvas exudes individuality and creativity. From a young age, I studied at the Atelier Art studio in Mission Viejo, California. Art was always an important force in my life, winning awards for my creativity at a young age. But one could argue that my scope of vision was limited. I knew of sculpting, oil, watercolor, acrylic, chalk art, charcoal portraits, and sweeping landscapes. But what was I missing? I found out the Summer of 2016 when I unlocked a new world from a little box on my desk. That box? My computer.
When Adobe Illustrator first graced my computer, I didn't understand the capabilities of graphic design. Yes, I was shying away from google docs and clip art. But what of it? I realized that graphic design was the same art I had known, but better. I realized that my mouse wasn't just a tool, it was a paint brush. The programs so versatile, the possibilities so endless. Posters, snapchat geofilters, book covers, album covers, clothing designs, logos, art work. I watched tutorials, read articles, and spoke with professionals. With each new source I improved, learning something new. My work was eye-catching and anticipated, with advertisements filling stands and packing audiences. Before long, friends were asking me for personalized geofilters for birthdays, senior nights, and weddings. Volunteer organizations and budding businessmen requested logos, t-shirt designs, and book cover art. Through internships, I learned about Indesign and publishing. I transferred these skills into creating graduation announcements and holiday cards for friends and family.
In today’s society, digital art is taking over. It’s modern, it’s new, and it’s ever-changing. That's why I love it. I feel like I’m a part of something big, a movement into the future. I know that with each project, my work improves. Moving on, I hope to continue to learn, to evolve from finger paintings to masterpieces.
